The composite creation below was based on the supernatural Indonesian movie |Dancing Village:The Curse begins |
A Sebastian Kisworo concept ........ so how do the individual images that make up the above creation look like ? Check out the thumbnails compilation below:
MANTRA Concept by Sebastian Kisworo was an even more challenging concept because it allowed the photographer / digital artist to create & to be creative beyond the norm.
Composite #01
Composite #02
Composite #03
Composite #04
I had great fun creating all the above MANTRA creations , so what were my considerations in creating the composites ?
Story / storyline was the primary consideration
Visual impact was next
Scale & complexity (like composite #02 )
Here's the thumbnails of individual images I used to create the creations above
Do you really need to be a Photoshop expert to do what I did ? the answer is NO !!!
Post Processing skills needed was not as complex or as sophisticated as you may think. Here's a quick list of what I employed to realise my creations
Free Selection / Quick Selection / Copying & pasting Selections / Moving Selections
Feathering selection
Selective Layer blending knowledge | darken | lighten | softlight | color |
Exposure / Contrast tweaks & Color Grading using Camera Raw filter tool
Contrast tweaks using Levels
Cloning skills [ clone darken |clone lighten | clone color ] to "fix" flaws
No advanced / complicated techniques used if you study my list above , what's more important was really much more strategic like deciding on sequence & combination of layers to work on.
Photography wise, the key action is to fix your composition using a tripod setup which will help simplity alignment between layers.
Hopefully the above gave you an insight on composite creation & encourages you to try.
So go exercise your creativity & have fun.
Till the next blog.
